This policy explains what information Marker ("the app", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with. Marker is a golf scorecard app that lets you track rounds, invite friends, and view results live.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in, we receive your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account's name. This is handled by Firebase Authentication.
• Profile information. Your display name and a preset avatar you choose from within the app. We do not support uploading personal photos.
• Location. With your permission, we use your device's location only while the app is in use, to help you find golf courses near you. Location is not collected in the background and is not stored against your profile.
• Golf activity. The rounds, scores, and courses you create or join, and the players and guests included in a round.
• Friends and social graph. Friend requests and connections you make with other users within the app.
• Push notification token. A device token used to deliver notifications about round activity and friend requests. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.

How we use this information

• To operate core features: creating and scoring rounds, showing live leaderboards, and connecting you with friends.
• To show nearby golf courses.
• To send notifications relevant to your rounds and friend requests.
• To keep your account secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Third-party services

Marker is built on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services process the data described above on our behalf: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, and Cloud Storage. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account and golf activity data for as long as your account is active.

Deleting your account in the app

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. For security, you may be asked to sign in again before the deletion goes ahead. Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

When you delete your account, we permanently delete:

• Your sign-in account (email address and linked Google account).
• Your profile: display name, avatar, language preference, and push notification tokens.
• Your statistics.
• The courses you created.
• Your friend requests and friend connections.
• Rounds you created in which no other registered player took part, including any guest players' scores in those rounds.

Rounds are shared with the other players in them, so to preserve their history we do not delete rounds that other registered players took part in. Instead, your name is removed from your scorecard in those rounds and replaced with "Deleted player", and your scores remain part of the round's results. Once your account is deleted, those scores can no longer be linked to you. If you created such a round, ownership passes to another player in it.

Guest accounts

If you use Marker as a guest, signing out deletes your guest account and its data in the same way as described above, because a guest account cannot be recovered after signing out. You can also use Profile → Delete account while signed in as a guest.

Requesting deletion by email

If you can no longer sign in to the app, you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@marker-app.app from the email address linked to your account. We will process your request within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Marker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including Firebase's authentication and access-control rules, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
